Testing method
Heavy-metal screening
For laboratory research use only. Not for human consumption.
- What it measures
- Elemental impurities such as lead, cadmium, arsenic and mercury.
- How it works
- Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) or optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) atomises the sample and measures each element against calibration standards.
- Sample
- A digested portion of the vial contents.
- Result reported as
- Micrograms of each element per gram of material (µg/g), compared with stated limits.
- Limits
- Reports only the elements in the panel that was run.
- Standards
- USP General Chapter <232> Elemental Impurities — Limits; USP General Chapter <233> Elemental Impurities — Procedures; ICH Q3D Elemental Impurities
- On our reports
- 0 of 23 None of our published reports include heavy-metal or elemental-impurity screening.
