Testing method
HPLC purity analysis
For laboratory research use only. Not for human consumption.
- What it measures
- The share of the detected peptide signal that belongs to the main compound, as a percentage of total peak area.
- How it works
- Reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography separates the sample's components on a column; a UV detector records each as a peak. Purity is the main peak's area divided by the total area of all integrated peaks.
- Sample
- A small portion of the vial contents, dissolved and loaded onto the column.
- Result reported as
- Purity as a percentage of peak area, e.g. 99.402%.
- Limits
- Area-percent purity reports only what the detector sees and the method separates. It does not measure water, salts or counter-ions, so a high purity figure says nothing about how many milligrams of peptide the vial holds.
- Standards
- USP General Chapter <621> Chromatography; ICH Q2(R2) Validation of Analytical Procedures
- On our reports
- 19 of 23 published reports print an assayed purity figure.
