Testing method
Lyophilization (freeze-drying)
For laboratory research use only. Not for human consumption.
- What it measures
- Not a test: the process that turns a peptide solution into the dry powder supplied in the vial.
- How it works
- The solution is frozen, then held under vacuum so ice sublimes directly to vapour (primary drying). A warmer secondary drying step removes bound water. The vial is sealed under vacuum or inert gas.
- Sample
- Not applicable.
- Result reported as
- A dry cake or powder with low residual water.
- Limits
- Residual water after drying is measured separately, by the Karl Fischer method.
- On our reports
- 21 of 23 products with a published report are listed as lyophilized powder.
