Testing method
Counter-ion and TFA content
For laboratory research use only. Not for human consumption.
- What it measures
- Trifluoroacetate (TFA), acetate or other counter-ions bound to the peptide.
- How it works
- Peptides made by solid-phase synthesis are often purified with trifluoroacetic acid and isolated as salts. Ion chromatography or fluorine NMR quantifies the counter-ion left in the material.
- Sample
- A dissolved portion of the vial contents.
- Result reported as
- Counter-ion as a percentage of material weight.
- Limits
- Counter-ion weight is part of what is in the vial but not part of the peptide, which is one reason net content and labelled weight differ.
- Standards
- Ph. Eur. 2.2.46 Chromatographic separation techniques (ion chromatography)
- On our reports
- 0 of 23 None of our published reports include counter-ion or TFA content.
